Supporting
our youth

Game Plan AKL is an essential new initiative developed by Aktive to support overcoming the cost-of-living crisis impacting thousands of Auckland households.

Many Auckland families are sacrificing participation in sport and recreation for more immediate priorities, like putting food on the table, paying rent, or staying warm.

Game Plan AKL is a new fund which will enable select Year 9 students direct access to their chosen sport and recreation activity.

Game Plan AKL Ambassadors

  • “By supporting Game Plan AKL, think about the changes you’re going to make in someone’s life – not only for the rangatahi but for their families. This is a positive thing you’re doing for the community and think long-term and what this is going to do for society”.

  • “What I learnt growing up is a lot of resilience and if you really want something, it doesn’t matter where you come from, you can succeed and fulfil those dreams”.

  • It’s good for your health, it’s good for your mental health – sport is important and every Kiwi kid should get the opportunity to play it in some capacity.

  • “What I like about Game Plan AKL and being an ambassador for this is the opportunity to support a student as an individual and see that support go through multiple years . . . if you are able to sustain that over a couple of years, the young person you’re supporting may be able to follow that dream a little bit further”.

  • “Thank you so very much and I want you to know that your support will truly make a difference . . . and I think that will make a fantastic Auckland in the future”.

Thanks to the support of generous donors, $500,000 has already been secured which will enable 100 young people to start their five year Game Plan AKL journey from 2024.

That means, our focus has turned to scaling Game Plan AKL.

We’re now welcoming new donors, who would like to help us build our next $500,000 to enable a further 100 young people to start their Game Plan AKL journey from 2025.

Are you able to help? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
